From wood carver to sculptor
Yes, that sounds like Al, but Greg is actually one of Al’s friends who has taken the same life path. Greg started out in the bird carving world, but not just the regular bird carving world…The world class, multiple awards, you would never know it’s made from wood, world.
Greg now does bronze sculptures that are different from the realistic birds he did in the past, but they are just as wonderful. A few weeks ago, Greg was at the Teton visitors center sculpting for a few days. So I went and got some photo’s of him in action.
Greg has a lot of information and great images on his website. He is a very accomplished artist, and a very nice person to boot. His work can be seen at the Altamira Gallery in Jackson Hole.
So be sure to visit Greg Woodard website for more information.

Mary you did a fantastic job spotlighting this Artist. I just finished looking at Greg’s Website. After reading his Bio and seeing his wonderful sculptures I actually felt the passion he has for his art. I remember many years back being in an art show at the University student Gallery (Woodbury) in Orem and I saw one of his birds on a branch. I had barely heard of Greg. I was just getting started with my Art but won an honorable mention at this show and I think he won an award. I have been getting calls to teach classes a lot lately. I just don’t feel up to that right now with surgery on the horizon. When Mia returns to school I am going to concentrate on my own art. I have four pieces in the works but have been unable to carve and complete three of them till she in in school again.
