Some more lovely photos

We went on another nice hike the other day before the rendezvous stuff started. We found a great little hidden valley with several little streams, green grass, and cool scenery.

I love this photo. The dead branch, flower and cactus were all perfectly placed for a photo. Nature does a great job.

Whenever we go out hiking, I look for heart shaped rocks. If I find one, it totally makes my day. I haven’t found one for a while, so I was thrilled to come across this beauty. Yep….it made my day.

And of course the dogs had a great day too.

Flowers on a Friday

This past week we have been in southern Utah at a mountain man rendezvous. If you would like to read more about it, head over to Roxy the traveling dog. Before all the activities started I took the dogs and went hiking. I took my camera in hopes of finding something awesome to photograph. And I did.

I was thrilled to see the cactus in bloom. The red in this cactus was unbelievably deep and rich.

I don’t know what these flowers are. They grew on a bushy plant, and were super pretty.

This one too. I have no idea what it is. But it was very pretty too.

This was a tiny baby sage brush growing next to a lichen covered rock. Look at all the colors and textures.

And this is my favorite wild flower, Indian paint brush. They are very red this year. Love them!!

Earth Day for us

Earth Day for us

If you have been reading this blog very long, you know we are big outdoors people. No, we don’t hike the highest peaks in the world, or raft down every river. We just enjoy nature, and being close to mother earth. To me, there is nothing better than a nice hike in the middle of nowhere. No people, no crowds, just us and the dogs. We are torn between the red rock desert, and the high, pine covered mountains. I love them both equally. Each landscape has it’s own beauty, no matter where you are.

This is one of many beautiful views in Glacier Natl. Park. We went there on our honeymoon in 2007.

Sedona, one of my favorite places.

This is a very serene lake we hiked to in the backwoods of Wyoming.

Vermillion Cliffs on the Utah, Arizona boarder. An amazing place with spectacular scenery everywhere you look.

The Tetons. My favorite mountains…period.

Utah red rock desert. One of the perfect places.

Buckskin Gulch in Utah. The longest slot canyon in the world. Such an amazing hike. Inside the earth for miles, enveloped by the rocks, and mother earth.

These are just some of my favorite places, and certainly only scratches the surface of the many wonderful places there are to see on earth.

So to celebrate earth day, get out there and notice, and enjoy, the beauty that is all around you.

Moccasins and an invite

Moccasins and an invitation to join me on Triberr

I decided that no matter what I was going to get my moccasins done this weekend. I finished one of them last September, and the other has been half done for months. I will want to have them to wear when we go to mountain man rendezvous, so I figured I better get with it. I have been so busing making beadwork to sell, but I need to make these just for me. They are far from perfect. But as my mom and Nana used to say…A man on a galloping horse will never know the difference. Plus, if I ever do a pair of mocs again, I know the trick to the beading.

At the time I posted this, the second moccasin needed 2 rows of beadwork, and to be put together.

And now the invitation part.

Have you heard about Triberr? It is the brain child of Dino Dogan, and a very good one at that. I heard Dino speak last summer at the BlogPaws blogging conference. He spoke about Triberr and how it can help your blog traffic. I joined Triberr through my other blog, Roxy the traveling dog. This is not a time sucking social media outlet. Basically you find tribes with similar interests to your blog. In this case art and creativity. The great thing is, these tribe mates are also tweeting your blog posts. You can also hook up to linkedin and facebook. So your blog posts are getting tweeted numerous times a day, and you don’t have to do anything but sign up on Triberr, link your blog feed, and join a tribe or two or more. And tweet for your tribe mates too.

I started a tribe called, “A creative life”. I am looking for artists and creatives who blog about their art and creativity. Bloggers who want more traffic to their blogs, and want to meet new people too. I have found some nice new blogs through Triberr.
