A review of the dog backpack from Outward Hound
We received a dog backpack for Torrey from our wonderful sponsor, Kyjen. Sunday was the perfect day for a fall hike in a beautiful canyon near us, so we packed everyone up and off we went. I am a big fan of dog backpacks, if the dog can carry their own water and treats, the less I need to carry in my pack. Torrey is a 30lb dog and had no trouble carrying 2 bottles of water and some treats. The pack from Outward Hound, a Kyjen product, is roomy, and easy to use. There are straps on the chest to keep it from slipping back, and two adjustable straps that go around the body.
A lot of the hike was in and out of water, and the pack was completely waterproof.
The two big side pouches have zippers that go almost all the way around so they open fully and are easy to get stuff in and out of. There are also interior pockets with zippers for small items.
That way the dog can carry your keys too.
A huge bonus for me, especially since Torrey was wet and muddy, was being able to easily detach the bags. There is one small buckle on the top, and then the bags lift off the velcro that holds them to the main part of the pack system. When we stop for lunch, it’s nice to remove the bags so Torrey can lie down easier if she wants to. Her belly was so muddy that day, I don’t think I would have removed the bags if not for the easy way they detached.
I am very happy with the Outward Hound dog backpack, and I’m sure we will have tons of hikes and adventures with it.
Torrey is more than happy to carry her own weight, and I’m more than happy to let her.

This a terrific review! What a great product for hiking with your dog! Torrey doesn’t seem to mind it at all.
